Moore Marine is pleased to have been able to assist our customer in installing two new Yanmar 4JH80 diesel engines and SD60 sail drives re-power.
The new two litre four cylinder Yanmar 4JH80 diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 58.8KW (80MPH) at a rated speed of 3200RPM. They meet the EPA tier 3 emission compliance.
The re-power involved a lot of pre-planning to be able to remove the old 4LHA engines from the 48 foot Grainger Catamaran with out having to cut out the floor or cutting a hole in the hull. Our main concern and that of the customer was to be able to preserve the American white oak interior with the removal of the engines and the installation of the new engines. This was achieved by the expertise of Bruce Moore’s significant experience of engine re-powers.
The installation was made all the more easier and affordable by being able to use the same foot print as the old Yanmar engines.
Our customer noticed a significant reduction in noise in the saloon while motoring. The vessel now cruises at 2400 – 2600 RPM and 8–10 knots and has also noticed a significant decrease in fuel consumption.
